How to Obtain Deliverance

Deliverance is the process of being set free from any kind of bondage. To obtain deliverance from demonic oppression, scriptural knowledge is important.

Deliverance means being set free. John 11:41 – 44,

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

 42And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

 43And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

 44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.(Emphasis: mine).

John the Baptist has just been raised from the dead by Jesus Christ, but he was still bound with grave clothes. Our Lord Jesus Christ commanded that he should be loosed from those grave clothes before he can go forward. Being raised from the dead symbolize being born again. Once you have been born again, you need to be loosed from those things that held you or bound you in your life before Jesus met you. Some of the things you may be bound to include: uncontrollable habits, lusts, sins, etc. Others may be in bondage of demons or demonic powers. They are either possessed or obsessed. Deliverance is the process whereby you are loosed and let go. 2 Corinthians 1:10,

10Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

God has delivered us, He is delivering us and will still deliver us.

Operating in Deliverance Ministry

To overcome in the ministry of deliverance you need both the Word of God and prayers. Consume the word of God until the Word of God consumes you; and you can boldly say: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”. (Galatians 2:20). Prayer is the sword of the Spirit. The sword is an offensive weapon in warfare. Deliverance is an offensive warfare, and thus having a great sword (a fervent life of prayer) will nonetheless make you a victorious warrior for Christ Jesus. James 5:13 – 17 says:

13Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

If Elijah prayed and God heard him and shut the heavens for three and half years, you need to pray until God rains His glory, power and strength on you.
